Corporate credit unions are united on a cooperative basis in the Central Credit Union (US Central Credit Union). The difference between credit unions and banks is clearly is apparent when comparing the structure of assets and liabilities of credit unions and banks. Over 30% of the assets of credit unions are investments in government securities, certificates of deposit of banks and savings loan associations, as well as in the parent credit unions, and other risk-free investments. The supreme body of the World Council of Credit Unions is the Assembly, which elects the president and the board of directors of WOCCU. A credit union on its own initiative order is created by citizens (individuals) to solve their financial problems that they could not solve in other financial institutions.
