1980 - for the first time in the history of Western Union revenues from money transfers exceeded the income from the telegraph service. In 1866, Sibley ordered the engineers to develop a Western Union telegraph system of stock quotes in real time. In October 1871 the company Western Union began to provide money transfer services, drawing on its own extensive telegraph network. Number of active holders of "Golden Card" of Western Union amounted to 9.5 million people worldwide.
