In 1920, Western Union has implemented the world's first transmission of images over the ocean. In 1935, Western Union has put into operation first intercity fax communication. The size of the commission fee for the transfer is charged according to the Western Union tariffs and depends on the amount of money sent. To obtain the Golden card can any client of Western Union, committing money transfers on this system more than 1 time per year. Getting the card is issued at the time of making of the next transfer. Thanks to cooperation with Western Union the Associated Press at the end of the XIX century took almost monopolistic position in the U.S. market news. In October 1871 the company Western Union began to provide money transfer services, drawing on its own extensive telegraph network. Number of active holders of "Golden Card" of Western Union amounted to 9.5 million people worldwide.
