1980 - for the first time in the history of Western Union revenues from money transfers exceeded the income from the telegraph service. July 3, 1884 the company's shares were included in the calculation base for the newly created stock index Dow Jones Transportation Average. In October 1871 the company has implemented the world's first telegraph money order. After a century money transfers have become a major source of income for Western Union. The first offices of company were located in the Reynolds Arcade building in Rochester, New York. The sign above the main entrance to the building - Number of active holders of "Golden Card" of Western Union amounted to 9.5 million people worldwide.
