Corporate credit unions are united on a cooperative basis in the Central Credit Union (US Central Credit Union). Credit unions attract people in the first place by the opportunity to get cash loan (credit) - quickly and relatively inexpensively. First Credit Union was savings unprofitable institution, or rather credit cooperative, providing services to its members. Until the 70's there was a proliferation of the U.S. credit unions due to the increase of their number and the number of shareholders, although it must be acknowledged that there was also and a qualitative growth. Credit unions base their activities on savings of shareholders, their shares and savings contributions, which make up the fund of mutual financial assistance - a source of cash loans to shareholders. U.S. credit unions have another significant difference from the credit cooperatives of farmers: the first have major proportion of short-term loans, the second - long and mostly in real estate. Unlike banks credit unions limit their activities to a closed circle of people. A credit union on its own initiative order is created by citizens (individuals) to solve their financial problems that they could not solve in other financial institutions.
