National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) - an independent federal agency, based in Washington (State of Columbia), established by the U.S. Congress to oversee the federal credit union system. To date, credit unions - virtually the only form of financial institution where people can quickly and without any problems get a relatively inexpensive cash loan. Credit unions encourage savings of citizens, setting compensation payments (interest) on savings and provide from these savings loans to their members. Credit union is created by a group of members who pursue a common interest. Income derived from the provision of services to its members, does not become the profit of credit union and is distributed among its members in proportion to their savings. To increase the number of credit unions in 1979 was adopted the corresponding law that serves as the legal basis of their activity.
