In 1908. the spread of credit unions has reached the United States. In 1935 President Roosevelt signed the state Charter on credit unions, which became a law. Credit unions attract people in the first place by the opportunity to get cash loan (credit) - quickly and relatively inexpensively. At the organization of the credit union it is important that people know each other and know the extent to which each of them is trustworthy. International cooperation has been particularly felt since the days when Alphonse Desjardins began the activity on development of credit union movement in North America. Important specifics of creating a credit union - an initiative order of organization: people do not receive any instructions, orders or regulations, the unification into a credit union occurs by their will and decision. U.S. credit unions have another significant difference from the credit cooperatives of farmers: the first have major proportion of short-term loans, the second - long and mostly in real estate.
