Corporate credit unions are united on a cooperative basis in the Central Credit Union (US Central Credit Union). Credit union is created by a group of members who pursue a common interest. Agreeing to make regular contributions, they create a fund from which can borrow money for investments and replenishment of working capital at favorable interest rates. In the U.S. credit unions timely and full repayment of loans is a common phenomenon. Unpaid and delinquent loans are not more than 3% of their amount. Credit unions, like today's credit unions, emerged in the 19th century in Germany as a result of crop failure and famine. The right to use the services of the credit union have only its members. Credit unions encourage the proper use of shareholders savings, developing social programs (education, health, recreation, housing, etc.).
